The City of Hinesville Homeless Prevention Program provides assistance to currently housed applicants with past due rent payments. The program also assists with utilities in disconnect status. Utility assistance IS NOT a separate program and is only provided in conjunction with rental assistance. Applicants must reside within the City of Hinesville.
Please note that our programs do not provide immediate assistance and assistance is dependent upon funding availability. The process for this program requires time to complete. If approved, the home must pass inspection and applicants must meet with Homeless Prevention staff before funds are issued. Additionally, property owner or utility company must agree to accept payment. Assistance funds are paid directly to the vendor from the City of Hinesville and are not released to applicants.
Eligibility requirements are set by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development as well as the Georgia Department of Community Affairs. The Prevention Assistance Application is linked below and is also available in office. Note that assistance is limited and applications will be viewed in the order received. Completed applications may be submitted by ONE of the following methods. Please include full name in email subject or fax cover sheet. Submit all documents at one time. Incomplete or partial applications will not be processed.
